Directive

A member had written an old Lotus 123 macro based system to charge, track, and print receipts for bingo players.  It no longer worked with a new computer they bought.  They had returned to manual tracking methods which was very cumbersome and error prone.

They needed me to rewrite and redesign the application with a specific request that it be in Microsoft Excel.

Remarks

The new system allowed them to receive more players faster.

The new system included more reporting features than the old system.

It took 1 person with the system to receive patrons versus 2 people manually and the system printed accurate receipts and kept a transaction log, which was needed for tax purposes.

Results

Productivity doubled and human errors were significantly reduced.

ROI was approximately 2 years.
